Click here to check how to attend the demonstration publicly or remotely ! IntroductionThe Tour de France is a 3-weeks long professional race that takes place all over around France. This is the third most world important sport event (after the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup). It starts on July 1st in Strasbourg and finishes on July 23rd in Paris. The Nautilus6 project within WIDE will organize an E-bicyle demonstration on Friday, July 21st and Sunday, July 23rd, near the last step of the Tour de France race. This demonstration will the a great opportunity to demonstrate IPv6 Mobility to the public and all Nautilus6 partners in France and Japan. Anyone interested in this demonstration will be able to follow it in Live or remotely on the Internet. Demonstration ScenarioThe E-bicycle is a bicycle that embeds an IPv6 Personal Area Network (PAN). This PAN is made of several IPv6 devices and is connected to the Internet through several access technologies. Thanks to IPv6 and mobility protocols such as NEMO Basic Support, any people in the world will be able to follow the whereabouts of the E-Bicycle near the Tour de France event, while the E-Bicycle is on the move. This includes pictures of the surroundings, sound, video, etc.
For this demonstration, the E-Bicycle will be composed of:
Another bicycle will take benefit from the E-Bicycle's Internet access, this bicycle being connected to the E-Bicycle's PAN using wireless lan.
A vehicle will follow both bicycles. This vehicle will also be connected to the Internet, and will be used as a demonstration stand. An IPv6 Camera inside the car will send a video of the demonstration to the Internet using XCAST6. An uninterrupted audio session using Voice-over-IPv6 will also be broadcasted between each entity and some clients in the Internet using XCAST6. A laptop will display the bicycle's sensors values and some pictures from the camera using the MonNemo software, that will allow the public to easily follow remotely the whereabouts of the bicycles. MonNemo, which is available as a stand-alone JAVA application or through a JAVA applet, allows to see the E-Bicycle position on a map, some pictures of the surrounding, and the environment conditions by displaying the IPv6 sensors values. A chat also allows to keep in touch with the rider.
The E-Bicycle will be also monitored with SONAR to provide real-time statistics of the system. How to participate to the demonstration? There are several ways to particpate to this E-Bicycle demonstration, on July 21st and 23rd. Demonstration on Friday, July 21st: Demonstration presentation.
Due to the issues met on Friday, we will perform several tests on Saturday, July 22nd, so feel free to visit the Java applet or to use XCAST during the day to get some pictures and video from the demonstraiton system.
